Class of 2012 breaks record for scholarship dollars earned

Clark County School District Superintendent Dwight D. Jones joined counselors and CCSD students to congratulate the graduating Class of 2012 for earning more than $239 million in scholarships, setting a new District record. Cheyenne High School graduate Taikye Wright-Brown, attending Harvard on a full-ride scholarship this fall, was on hand to challenge the Class of 2013 to meet or beat the record set by his fellow graduates. The friendly competition was also echoed by the superintendent. Superintendent Jones also presented the Dewayne D. Jones Memorial Scholarship, named after his father, to Sandy Valley High School graduate Kenzi Smith. Jones' father was a proponent of students from rural areas attending college.
