More than 7,000 CCSD students from 37 schools were in attendance at the Thomas & Mack Center as the 2nd Annual Rebel Reading Challenge was launched on Nov. 14, 2012. Sponsored by CCSD, SuperPawn and UNLV Athletics, the 30-day challenge involves classes at participating schools competing to see which class can read the most pages. The winning fourth and fifth grade classes will win a trip to a UNLV men's basketball game and other prizes. The kick-off event featured a friendly basketball competition between CCSD Superintendent Dwight D. Jones and UNLV President Neal Smatresk, as well as appearances from UNLV coaches and student-athletes.
