R.O. Gibson School Beautification Project

Leadership students at R. O. Gibson Middle School brought together the school community to begin a new landscaping project on Saturday, June 25, 2011. A Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant for $5,000 funded the effort and resulted from the students' desires to improve their school site and to put their writing skills to work on the grant application. The students kicked off the activity by presenting to the school a plaque commemorating the project. Student leadership representative Kira Smethers joined project coordinator Dr. James Cazier and community outreach member Russ Smethers in acknowledging the many dignitaries, donors, staff and volunteers who have supported the class this year. School Board Trustee, Dr. Linda Young was also in attendance.
